Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists had entered Mumbai on the night of November 26, 2008, killing 166 people, including foreign nationals, and injuring several others over the course of four days.
At least 160 people were killed, and over 300 were injured. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also paid tributes to the victims of the 26/11 attack at the police headquarters. In the fifteen years since the attack, Mumbai Police have strengthened security measures within the city. They have identified over a dozen landing sites that could be vulnerable and are patrolled around the clock. Additionally, new quick response police teams have been deployed, and drones have been added to enhance coastal security.
Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid floral tributes on Sunday to the martyrs who laid down their lives while fighting terrorists that attacked the metropolis 15 years ago on this day. The tribute took place at the martyrs’ memorial on the premises of the Police Commissioner’s Office in south Mumbai, with senior police officials in attendance. Family members of the policemen who lost their lives during the November 2008 attacks also paid their respects.
