Turkey’s parliament has reportedly removed Coca Cola and Nestle products from its restaurants, citing alleged support for Israel during the Hamas war. According to a parliamentary statement, the decision, made by parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus, specifies that products from companies supporting Israel will not be sold in parliament campus eateries. While the statement didn’t name the companies, a parliamentary source informed Reuters that Coca-Cola beverages and Nestle instant coffee were the only brands removed. The decision is said to be in response to public demand and follows criticism from Turkish activists who called for a boycott of Israeli goods and Western companies perceived as endorsing Israel. The Turkish government has strongly criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza and Western support for Jerusalem. The conflict has led to widespread protests in Turkey, both on the streets and on social media.
