Quota Activist Manoj Jarange Accuses OBC Leaders of Targeting Marathas

On Tuesday, Manoj Jarange, a prominent quota activist, leveled serious allegations, suggesting that leaders from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) were deliberately leveling unfounded charges against the Maratha community. Jarange stressed the importance of Maratha leaders coming together to support the community’s youth.

He stated, “Cases are being registered against Marathas who have been peacefully advocating for their rights. Maratha leaders in the state should address this issue and stand in solidarity with the youth. If you do not support them now, they may not forgive you in the future.” He further emphasized that the Maratha community was not involved in any acts of violence and called for unity and support from its leaders. “This is the moment to stand with the community. Let’s avoid any confrontations that may restrict your access to our villages,” he urged.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Jarange claimed that the minister’s visit to Beed was an attempt to target the Marathas. He has long been advocating for reservation for the Maratha community in government jobs and education within the OBC category.

Jarange’s statements come a day after Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal declared his opposition to any covert efforts to provide Marathas with reservations under the OBC category, warning against violence and pressure tactics. Bhujbal visited the homes of NCP MLAs Prakash Solanke and Sandip Kshirsagar, which were targeted during the recent quota agitation that turned violent in Beed last week.
